Sammy was born on July 6, 2010 at 12:51pm and weighed in at 8 lbs. 6 oz. Unlike my other 2 boys who made their appearance early, Sam got too comfortable in his home of 10 months and had to be evicted. I was very nervous about being induced as I was fully aware that pitocin can make labor much more intensive. The contractions were fine until I reached 6 cm and then the back labor kicked into full gear. Little Sam was turned looking sideways (laying on his side) as he exited out, giving mom and the medical staff a run for their money. But a little help from the doc, some oxygen for mom and Sam and 4 contractions later, Samuel Charles was born.

Custom Beach Growth Chart
Very excited to have received this Etsy order for a beach growth chart. There were only few minor changes to the original beach chart that I had made previously, but just as enjoyable to make. I think growth charts are my favorite item to create by far because they are like mini murals! Don't be afraid to inquire about a custom designed chart for yourself or as a gift. Like wall murals, I can come up with 100's of designs!!

New Growth Chart for a Little Girl's Dream Room!
I'm excited to showcase a new growth chart painted for a special baby girl. I designed it to fit any butterfly/flower themed room, however, it also goes great with the Sugar Plum bedding from CoCaLo that Babies r Us sells. The chart measures 12" wide by 48" tall and is always personalized for free. I advertise that the personalization includes name, birthdate, weight, time and height. However, if you wish, I can can just personalize it with the child's name, which may be designed differently, so the name is vertical going down the length of the chart.
I can create growth charts to match ANY theme. All I need is bedding info, or just theme and/or colors. These charts are great keepsakes and make perfect gifts. Simply roll them up and pack them away when no longer needed. They complete the look to every room!
Check this chart out, along with my other items in my Etsy shop!

36 weeks ... and counting!
Finally I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Only 2-3 more weeks of enduring sciatic nerve pain, heartburn and constant bathroom trips. I'm looking forward to being able to turn over in my bed without groaning and praying that the sudden leg cramps don't resurface. I really do cherish every little kick, head butt to my bladder and squirm. But the sight of those movements along with grunting sounds will be relished even more after the baby is born.
Last Thursday I had my ultrasound to determine approximate size and weight of baby Hummer. Just shy of 36 weeks, the baby is approximately 6 lbs. 7 oz. Everything measured right on time, with the exception of the femur (leg) bone. Our long legged baby would be 38 weeks and 4 days gestation, if that's all we took into consideration. It should be interesting how long she/he is at birth.
Please keep us all in your prayers as we prepare for the arrival of our newest addition. We are very excited and will keep you posted!

My 20 Week Ultra-Silhouette
Unfortunately when it comes to painting, my personal projects get put on hold. But I finally found a few hours to devote to my sweet baby's ultrasound painting. The room is a blue/grey color and since we don't know the sex, I decided to stick to a fun, bright and light color.
The painting is done on a 16x20 canvas sheet, which I framed in a wide, white frame. We are still in the process of moving furniture around and getting the nursery ready. (It's my third - I'm allowed to wait to the last minute.) When we have everything finalized, we'll be proudly hanging our baby's first picture. I can't wait!
Foot Stool Cover
Some of you may laugh at this, and that's ok. I accept laughter as a compliment. After my hubby slaved over the kid's bathroom, we very quickly became aware of every little move our two little men did in the bathroom. The new vanity is taller than usual, bringing on the necessity of a foot stool for the kids. Which works great, until they slide it up against the beautiful rich color of the vanity.

I WILL NOT tell you how to cut and sew one of these together. That's not why I'm sharing this. I am NO seamstress. If you would have seen how I cut and sewn the pieces together, you would have gotten a good laugh! Trust me. But I did pull it off, and the final product serves its purpose. Yay me!

NEW! Hummer Mural
I finally got an opportunity to post one of the newest murals, a Hummer car bed that appears to burst through the wall. The bed was made by the owner who had requested a desert/rough terrain theme on the wall. The black box on the wall is the back windshield for when he puts the bed up against the wall.
Don't forget to check it out at my new gallery.

31 Weeks and counting!
Today I'm officially 31 weeks pregnant. We are very excited for our third child and can't wait to meet her or him. Unfortunately I've had to officially discontinue painting murals and I hope to resume in September, depending on how things are going. But when I do resume....WATCH out because I'll be back, painting with a vengeance! :)
Some exciting things are STILL happening with Sweet Dream Murals.

I've also updated my website with a new gallery. I hope this one is easier to navigate and shows enough of my portfolio to give you an idea of all I can do. One of my goals for 2010 is to open my own online shop for all of my new wall art. I plan to accomplish this no later than October. It will be the same website address - so you won't miss a thing!
Sweet Dream Murals also has a FAN page on Facebook. Become a fan on facebook and stay up-to-date with all of my new murals and products -- and don't forget to share it with your friends!

NEW Product by Sweet Dream Murals!!!!
I'm so excited to announce a new product developed by Sweet Dream Murals! I'd like to introduce to you "Ultra-Silhouette's", a wonderful keepsake item that will bring years of enjoyment. Ultra-Silhouette's takes the very first picture of your baby and creates a priceless piece of art, one that you will treasure forever.
Using a high-quality unprimed canvas, I either stretch the canvas on gallery sized stretcher bars (1 1/2" thick) or hem/sew the canvas, creating clean edges and pocket rods for hanging on dowel rods with ribbon attached. Then I prime the canvas with gesso and prepare it for painting. You are free to choose from a variety of colors and sizes to match your decor and/or gender of the baby. Free personalization is also available!
These make GREAT shower or new arrival gifts. The response I've gotten so far has been outstanding and I'm sure no one will be disappointed with their very own Ulta-Silhouette!

OH Baby Bliss
Tomorrow I will be 24 weeks pregnant! Time is flying by fast and soon it will be June and I'll be counting down the days. This coming Monday, March 15th, I will get another ultrasound. Very excited and I hope I have a good picture to post for everyone. A few things I want to inform you of:
NO, we will not have the doctor write it down so I can give it to you.
NO, you are not permitted to do an ultrasound on me just so you can find out the sex...even if you are an ER nurse. (You know who are!) :)
Here's a lovely picture that a co-worker took of me today. Please keep in mind that this is my 3rd pregnancy (and last) and you're suppose to get bigger early on with each pregnancy. :) Thanks!
NEW Mural ... well, sort of new!
It's March and I'm FINALLY posting a mural I completed back in December! Wow, where has the time gone. The past 2 weeks have been filled with bronchitus, stomach flu, and sinus infections (in that order) so it's been a little nuts. But I've returned to the living and I'm ready to get back in the saddle ... of painting that is!

I'm getting images ready to post on my site for another mural I did in December - a HUMMER room...and no, not a room in my house. :)

Christmas in March?
DIY tip #1:
Do you get a TON of Christmas photo cards from friends and family? Every year we seem to get more and more and the older I get, the more precious they are to me. I never want to throw them out, but if I keep every single one of them, they will soon overtake my house!
Well, a couple of years ago I came up with an idea to preserve those pictures (and your pocketbook since we all paid for those cards), and create something the family can use during the Christmas season: Holiday Placemats.
There are several reasons why placemats are great.
1. You compress all of those cards each year into ONE single mat, instead of having loose cards laying in a box or shelf and collecting dust.

Well, a couple of years ago I came up with an idea to preserve those pictures (and your pocketbook since we all paid for those cards), and create something the family can use during the Christmas season: Holiday Placemats.
There are several reasons why placemats are great.

2. Kids LOVE placemats! You can keep them occupied while making dinner by having them name off everyone they know, or find how many are wearing red, or who has brown hair, etc.
3. Adults enjoy seeing how much everyone has changed throughout the years, especially the children.
Want to make your own? It's very simple!
First you arrange the cards into a collage. It may take a little while to arrange them to fit the way you want, especially if you're a perfectionist like me. You can make any size and shape. I chose to do a rectangle since it was the easiest.
Next I gently taped them together on the backside to hold them in place.
Then I bought some 12x12 scrapbook paper to glue to the back of the pictures, leaving a 1/4 inch border around the sides of the mat. I chose a simple black paper for all of my placemats, only because I could see my kids fighting over which mat they wanted if I did different patterns.
To seal and protect your collage, you will need to laminate it. You CANNOT use a hot laminate on these since they're photographs and melting might occur. I went to Office Depot and bought a large roll of cold laminate (about $10). I then cut it to size, leaving some overlapping on the sides, then peeled the backing off, laid it on one side of the placemat starting from the center and rubbed it out to the edges. You will need a debit card or something to rub out as many bubbles as you can. When you complete one side, flip over and do the other side. Then trim the edges to give it a polished look.
NOTE: You WILL have bubbles and it won't be "perfect", so don't be discouraged.
Don't forget to add your own photo card to the collage. I actually forgot (oops) and ended up putting it on the back of the mats, which works great too!
It's never too late to start these. If you get a lot, you can make a couple/year, especially if you have a big family!
